SUMMARY:2nd Annual Healthy Shelby 5K
DESCRIPTION:Healthy Shelby 5k- Finish First or Else \n\nJune 28\, 2014 at 8:00 am\n\nShelby Farms\, Memphis\, TN\n*Don't let the summer heat slow you down! Runners who don't finish first will be rewarded with a water bomb celebration when crossing the finish line. Volunteers are prepared to toss water-filled sponges your way.*\n\nJoin Mayor Mark H. Luttrell\, Jr.\, as he hosts the second annual Healthy Shelby 5K! All proceeds will benefit Healthy Shelby and their efforts to combat hypertension in Shelby County. \n\n\n\n Hypertension is the most common condition seen in primary care. Did you know that residents of Tennessee\, Mississippi\, Arkansas and Alabama are more likely to have hypertension than those in other states? Surprisingly\, many children in the Mid-South develop hypertension in their youth. If a kid develops high blood pressure\, it's likely the child will continue to have high blood pressure as an adult.\n\n\n\n Hypertension is often not felt and can lead to heart attack\, stroke\, kidney failure\, and death if not detected early and treated appropriately. Help us to spread the message by participating in the 2nd annual Healthy Shelby 5k!\n\n All Shelby County Government employees who register will be placed in a drawing! One lucky winner will be given the opportunity to have lunch with Mayor Mark H. Luttrell\, Jr.
