DESCRIPTION:BACC Monthly Luncheon\n\n\n\n\n\nMick Wright\, Shelby County Commisioner\n\nJoin us in welcoming our newly elected Shelby County Commisioner\, Mick Wright. Wright will share his plan to work together to build a Shelby County that is safer\, stronger and smarter. He will also discuss ideas to improve public safety\, encourage economic growth and enhance public education. He was elected to the Shelby County Board of Commissioners on August 2\, 2018\, representing District 3 (Bartlett\, Lakeland and Raleigh).\n\n \n\nCommissioner Wright has worked for Youth Villages\, the national nonprofit that serves troubled children\, since 2003. He manages employee communications from the organization's Bartlett headquarters. A native of Des Moines\, Iowa\, he holds a bachelor's degree in English from Harding University and a master's degree in public administration from Strayer University.\n\n \n\nA member of Leadership Bartlett's class of 2009\, Commissioner Wright has spent the last decade volunteering with local organizations including the Bartlett Chamber Foundation and the Bartlett Education Foundation\, as well as other civic projects such as the Bartlett Education Advisory Committee\, the Bartlett Sesquicentennial Committee and the Bartlett First Responders Monument Committee.\n\n \n\nIn 2011\, Commissioner Wright helped to form Better Bartlett Schools\, which was a grassroots orgaization that developed a referendum to create the Bartlett City Schools system.\n\n \n\nCommissioner Wright and his wife\, Alison\, have been residents of Shelby County since 2000 and have lived in Bartlett since 2008. They are members of the Memphis Runners Track Club and the Bartlett Runners Club.
