Appling Middle School's Wildcats Gone Green Initiative
What is the Wildcats Gone Green Initiative and how did this event come to be?
Appling Middle School Teacher Tabitha Boddie challenged her students for the 2012-2013 school year to launch an energy initiative to challenge all of the businesses in the Bartlett Corporate Park to aggregately reduce their annual energy consumption by $2,000,000 (approximately 10%).
How can a Middle School Accomplish this?
The Bartlett Area Chamber’s Team Green Zone is helping to spearhead the project with the Appling Middle School kids.
What is the Wildcats Gone Green Initiative?
The Wildcats Gone Green Initiative is supported by national and local organizations including the City of Bartlett, Shelby Farms Park Conservatory, and Pathway Lending.
How can I learn more about this Wildcats Gone Green Initiative, and how it can help my business?
Every business owner, CEO, CFO, COO, facility director and energy manager within the Bartlett Corporate Park is invited as well as all local media. Team Green Zone will provide information at the event about how businesses at the corporate park can increase their profit margins by implementing energy efficiency measures with paybacks of three years or less.
There is over seven million square feet of commercial and industrial space in the Bartlett Corporate Park which makes it an excellent target for such a project. With up to 30% of energy consumed in commercial and industrial buildings being wasted, the 10% reduction goal will make a huge impact on the Bartlett Corporate Park business’s energy use. Energy use reductions of 10% can be possible with little or no cost.
