BACC Monthly Membership Lunch Meeting Oct 12. 2021
FORD in West Tennessee and its Impact
The Bartlett Chamber’s Economic Development Report
Bartlett is the largest suburban municipality within the Memphis Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). The City is recognized for its entrepreneurialism as evidenced by its many home-grown multimillion-dollar companies. We have become the epicenter for the medical device industry in the Greater Memphis area with one thousand direct jobs clustered in Bartlett. Companies seeking a business-friendly environment are attracted to Bartlett as its low vacancy rate in industrial space demonstrates. Given these accolades what is the future economic outlook for Bartlett and the region?
Bartlett Chamber President John Threadgill will shed light on some of the important issues facing Bartlett, the Greater Memphis area and the country. And with the recent FORD Announcement, John will discuss the implications that a $5.6 Billion automobile plant 30 miles from Bartlett will have on the local economy.
Joining him will be special guest Gwyn Fisher, Director of the Memphis Region for the Tenn. Dept. of Economic & Community Development. Gwyn will elaborate on some of the 'behind the scenes' activities that led to the Ford decision to locate at the Memphis mega-site. If you are interested in what drives economic development, especially in your community, you will want to attend this meeting.
