Dinner Stage Series - BPACC
The Dinner Stage Series is a wonderfully intimate opportunity for the audience to join the entertainers on stage for a cabaret-style dinner show which includes a catered buffet dinner and featured performers. This season’s series kicks off with HARMONIOUS WAIL who brings the tradition of Gypsy Jazz to life with refreshing energy and undeniable passion.
An eclectic blend of jazz, Eastern European gypsy swing, American jazz standards, and contemporary folk is used to create the distinctive sound of Harmonious Wail. Drawing from the rich influence of most notably Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, The Wail’s intoxicating arrangements and shear joy of Gypsy Swing is downright addictive. The Wail is comprised of mandolin, guitar, bass, and the vocal excellence of Maggie Delaney-Potthoff. Maggie exudes confidence and ease in both powerhouse tunes and ballads as a captivating performer. Sims Delaney-Potthoff is the founder, the leader, and the mandolinist of Harmonious Wail. Sims is a true artist of the mandolin. Guitarist and vocalist Tom Waselchuk has played a variety of music including jazz, folk, blues, western swing, and honky-tonk. Regardless of the style his music is always breathtaking. John Christensen brings a sense of harmony and swing to the group with his rock-solid bass. With this partnership of superb musicianship, infused by a common belief in the joy and power of music, and rooted in strong personal friendships, Harmonious Wail is indeed a rare ensemble best experienced live and in person.
